Ontario and the 401 corridor
The Highway 401 corridor is the backbone of road transport in Canada, and it is our busiest area after Quebec. It links the warehouses of the East to Greater Toronto and southwestern Ontario.
What heads to Ontario: packaged goods, dry food, consumer products and retail replenishment. What comes back: palletized freight out of the distribution centres in Mississauga, Brampton and Milton. That two-way traffic is what keeps prices competitive on this corridor.
The 401 imposes its own logic: dense traffic around Greater Toronto, and widely spaced service areas that shape the driver’s hours of service. We build the mandatory stops into the schedule we quote, which avoids the classic gap between the salesperson’s promise and the driver’s reality.
The large distribution centres on the corridor all run on appointments, with penalties when the window is missed. The appointment is booked before departure, and the loading time in Quebec is calculated back from it, not the other way around.
