Freeze-sensitive products
A frozen product is not a late product: it is a lost product. This is the one commodity family where the equipment is decided before the price.
Paint that has frozen does not become paint again. An emulsion separates, an adhesive loses its grip, a bottle bursts. Unlike handling damage, the harm is invisible at delivery: it surfaces when the container is opened, weeks later.
From November to April, these loads move in a heated trailer held above freezing, including at a standstill. The risk is highest on long corridors out of the southern United States, where the freight leaves at 25 °C.
Flag it at quoting time. It is an equipment decision, and it cannot be recovered once the trailer is at the dock.
